FMNP Training
FMNP training is provided by FMNP instructors through the University of Florida Cooperative Extension Service and other nonprofit education organizations.
The training program includes a total of 40 contact hourse which includes classroom (16 hours), field (18 hours), and supervised practical experience (6 hours).
Training is available in three focus areas: freshwater, upland, and coastal ecosystems. All training emphasizes conceptual understanding of ecosystem processes, identification and knowledge of the ecoloty of key plants and wildlife, and information on the past and current role of human activity in shaping Florida's environment.
The FMNP, therefore, takes a holistic approach to understanding Florida's environment and environmental history. A 40-hour volunteer commitment to cooperating organizations is available to defray costs of FMNP training.
